About Us
About Us | Our Story
At Wicked Burns Creative, every candle begins with a story—and ours is a family one.
We’re Megan and Dallas Burns, along with our five kids, and together we pour our hearts (and wax!) into this small business. What started as a way to create safe, clean-burning candles for our home quickly became a calling. With a child who has severe asthma, we needed candles that were low-emission and gentle. Once we found the right blend, we realized we could share them with others who craved the same peace of mind.
Our Philosophy
Candles are more than scent and flame. They mark the moments we gather, celebrate, rest, and remember. From choosing the fragrance to naming each creation, our whole family plays a part in bringing Wicked Burns to life—with care, humor, and a little everyday magick.
Our name reflects that spirit. With the last name Burns, it felt only right to lean into the fire. “Wicked” speaks to our playful, Appalachian-rooted personality (and means “awesome” in our book), while “Creative” leaves room to grow into more than candles.
What Makes Us Different
-
Family-Crafted: Every candle passes through our hands—from testing and pouring to labeling and packing.
-
Clean Ingredients: Soy-based, phthalate-free, and crafted without oils that require California Proposition 65 warnings.
-
Appalachian Storytelling: From funny cryptid-inspired scents like Radioactive Catfish to cozy, familiar ones like Granny Witch, we bring the folklore and flavor of our mountains into every jar.
Our Roots
Though we began as Happy Wolf Handcrafted—born from the idea of feeding the “happy wolf” within us—we reimagined our story as Wicked Burns Creative. After nearly 20 years of calling Appalachia home, we’re proud transplants who have fallen in love with this place. Our candles honor both its humor and its heritage.
The Heart of It
For us, Wicked Burns Creative isn’t just about candles. It’s about family, community, and connection. When you light one of our candles, we hope it sparks joy, rounds out the feeling in your space, and becomes part of your story—just as making them has become such a meaningful part of ours.
Light a candle. Spark a memory. Carry a piece of the mountains with you.
